Purim (Purim in Hebrew: plural of PUR, the Akkadian puru) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the salvation of the Persian Jews from Haman's plot to exterminate them in the ancient Persian Empire, as it is written in the Book of Esther, a the books of the Bible. The feast of Purim, one of the most joyous of the Jewish calendar is compared to the Carnival by their costumes and dances and celebrates the victory of the Israeli people against the threat of genocide.
